For half a decade, the Strathmore University Annual Run has stood as a beacon of inspiration, unity, and achievement. What began as a passion for running has grown into a powerful movement, bringing together runners, families, sponsors, and partners to champion education through scholarships and transform lives.
As we prepare for the 6th edition of the Strathmore Annual Run, I warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this remarkable milestone. This initiative reflects our enduring commitment to education and our belief in equity, opportunity, and community empowerment, all achieved through the shared joy of sport and generosity.
Whether you are a seasoned runner pursuing a personal best or a first-time participant ready for a new challenge, this run is designed to inspire you to go further.
Our gratitude goes to the volunteers, sponsors, and partners whose unwavering support has made this event possible year after year. Because of you, the Run has grown from just 200 participants in its inaugural edition to over 2,000 runners in 2025.
Together, we have raised more than KES 14 million for the Strathmore University Scholarship Fund, creating life-changing opportunities for many bright and deserving students to access quality higher education.
This year, the need is even greater. As demand for scholarships continues to rise, we remain committed to ensuring that no deserving student is left behind because of financial barriers. By running with us, you are doing more than testing your physical limits, you are investing in the future leaders of our nation and continent.
I invite you to bring your families, friends, and colleagues. Register, run, and be part of this journey of hope and transformation. Let us run for impact.
See you at the starting line.

Welcome to the Strathmore Annual Run, an event that brings together participants from diverse backgrounds with a shared goal: raising funds to support students from disadvantaged families. Since its inception, the run has grown into a platform that combines sport, community and social impact.
This year, we welcome over 5,000 runners to the 6th edition, with race categories for all abilities, from the full marathon to shorter distances and family runs. This participation reflects the inclusive nature of the event and the shared commitment behind it.
We thank our students, volunteers, parents, staff, alumni, security and medical teams, donors, corporate sponsors, county governments and sports authorities for their continued support in delivering a safe and well-organized race day. The Strathmore University Foundation (SUF) continues to support participants through well-coordinated race services and on-ground facilitation.
The Strathmore Annual Run reflects the university’s commitment to education, leadership and social impact. Funds raised support scholarship programmes, helping expand access to quality education for deserving students.
By taking part, you contribute to this effort and support future leaders. We invite you to be part of this shared purpose.

The Strathmore University Annual Run is a community-powered fundraiser aimed at breaking financial barriers in education. Since its launch in 2021, it has grown exponentially and now serves as both a spotlight for wellness and a platform for scholarship support. The 2025 edition marked its fifth year, featuring a broad range of run distances and a rich mix of celebratory and inclusive activities, all in service of educational opportunity.
The Annual Run rallies the University community of staff, students, alumni, corporate partners, and the broader public to contribute towards scholarships. Over the past two decades, Strathmore has disbursed more than KES 1 billion in scholarship support, with the VC Run playing a key part. Currently, about 15% of undergraduates receive financial aid, with ambitions to raise that to 25%.

Strathmore University’s history reflects a remarkable journey from a pioneering, inclusive Sixth Form College in 1961 to a leading Kenyan university with a global outlook. Founded with inspiration from Saint Josemaría Escrivá, the founder of Opus Dei, and driven by the Strathmore Educational Trust, it broke barriers as the first multi-racial, multi-religious institution in pre-independence Kenya. Its evolution into a university, marked by the 2002 Letter of Interim Authority and the 2007 charter, showcases its commitment to academic excellence and expansion, particularly in commerce, IT, finance, law, and sustainability. The university’s strategic growth, including the 2010 School of Finance and Applied Economics and the 2012 School of Law, broadened its academic scope. These efforts highlight its forward-thinking approach to sustainability and emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, with projects addressing climate change, economic inclusion, and technological equity, aligning with Kenya’s Vision 2030.
Complementing this, Strathmore’s scholarship aspect underscores its dedication to accessibility and talent development. Through the Strathmore University Endowment Fund and partnerships with entities like the Mastercard Foundation and the African Development Bank, the university offers need-based and merit-based scholarships covering up to 100% of tuition for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Programs such as the Scholars Program and the Women in Technology Scholarships have supported over 5,000 students since 2010, prioritizing underrepresented groups, including those from rural areas and low-income families. In 2025, new initiatives like the Sustainable Energy Scholarships tie financial aid to research in green technologies, ensuring that innovation is inclusive and fosters diverse leadership. Enrollment has doubled to over 7,000 students, and the university achieved top rankings in East Africa for innovation emerging Number one in Kenya for employability in the 2024 QS rankings.
Strathmore’s motto, Ut omnes unum Sint, drives its mission of unity, ethical formation, and innovation. Ongoing initiatives like open days in South Sudan and Tanzania and new master’s programs in data science and sustainable energy transitions position it as a key player in shaping Kenya’s educational and economic future.
